Film review by Scott Mowry  |  June 19, 2008

In the fourth installment of the "Indiana Jones" series, we find our hero, Thomas "Indy" Jones, in the throes of a quest for a mysterious crystal skull in the far flung jungles of Peru and South America.

Harrison Ford as “Indiana Jones”

This time around, it is a somewhat older and mellower version of Indy that we are presented with, as it has been a good 19 years since we last saw him on the big screen. Nonetheless, have no fear, it is that same fearless and cantankerous archeologist movie goers have grown to know and love, who is more than willing to throw himself into a new adventure with reckless abandonment. Despite the fact that, Indiana Jones is old enough now to collect social security and a professor's pension.

Cate Blanchett as “Irina Spalko”

Instead of the usual Nazi thugs from "Raiders of the Lost Ark," "The Temple of Doom" and "The Last Crusade," we get a whole new set of villains to despise in the form of Russian commies, courtesy of the late 1950s Cold War setting. Led by an evil vamp, Irina Spalko, played by Cate Blanchett, they are obsessed with tracking down advanced alien "paranormal" technologies from around the world for their dastardly military designs.

Somewhere, Nikita Khruschev must be laughing.

After viewing this film for the first time, all I could say was: wow! Did I just see what I think I saw? I don't want to give away too much of the plot here, but let's just say there is a group of aliens that have a MAJOR starring role in this film and I really don't think it is by accident.

More on that later. But first, a little historical background on crystal skulls and why they may be of such grand importance at this time in our history and also, why "The Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls" has been released now.

THE LEGEND OF THE CRYSTAL SKULLS
According to many sources, the legend of the crystal skulls is very real and ongoing to this day. Thus far, a total of eight crystal skulls have been found in remote locations around the world and there is a great deal of intrigue regarding their true significance.

The crystal skulls are made of pure quartz of various colors and seemed to have been manufactured in a way that baffles most researchers and investigators due to their lack of any tool or cutting marks. They appear to have been carved in such a mysterious fashion, that many who have examined them, including some scientists at the Hewlett-Packard Laboratories, are convinced that the crystal skulls have an unearthly or extra-terrestrial origin.

Mitchell-Hedges crystal skull

The most famous of these is the Mitchell-Hedges crystal skull, found in Belize at a Mayan ruin site in 1924 by, a then, 17-year-old, Anna Mitchell-Hedges. Her father, F.A. "Mike" Mitchell-Hedges, was a famous world explorer and adventurer, who spent a lifetime tracking down rare artifacts around the globe. F.A. Mitchell-Hedges has since become known as the "real life Indiana Jones."

And just by coincidence, Indiana Jones makes a point of referencing the Mitchell-Hedges skull during this film.

The crystal skull legend centers around the belief that when a total of thirteen are found, there will be some great wisdom that will be imparted to mankind to save him from annihilation. The Indian legend, handed down through generations states that, only when mankind has reached a level of spiritual and mental evolvement, will all the remaining crystal skulls reveal themselves.

It would appear that we are fast approaching that time.

Regardless, the very existence of the crystal skulls may be definitive proof that our modern society is not the most advanced to have ever appeared on Earth as some believe. So awe inspiring are the crystal skulls in their appearance, construction and presence.

Thus far, of the eight that have been unearthed, only two are on public display; one at the Museum of Mankind in London, England, and the other at the Trocadero Museum in Paris, France respectively. Both of which were bought by mercenaries in Mexico during the 1890's and eventually acquired by these museums.

The remaining six, including the Mitchell-Hedges crystal skull, are locked away in private collections, although a few have surfaced in public from time to to time. These skulls are also said to contain many great healing properties and also may actually be a storehouse of sacred knowledge and wisdom, like a form of an ancient computer, so to speak. Apparently, the same crystal quartz raw material used in the skulls, is also manufactured into computer chips.

ALIENS, UFO'S AND CRYSTAL SKULLS
Now, back to the movie.

The latest Indiana Jones feature puts somewhat of a brand new spin on the crystal skull legend, by attaching them, and I mean literally, to alien skeletal bodies. And in another surprising twist, the ending of this film blatantly displays a wealth of alien and UFO symbolism so you won't miss it.

There is even a strong reference made to the 1947 Roswell crash as being a completely real event and it is explained in great detail by Indiana Jones, himself. Again, I think don't think this is all just a mere coincidence.

During a recent interview on RedIceCreations.com, David Wilcock stated that he believes much of this new Indiana Jones film contains a great deal of true and factual information. If that is, indeed, the case, then holy cow, this is a film you will really want to see!

However, as a word of warning, I would have to say I found some of this movie to be, in a word, well, hokey. Particularly, the action scenes where a 65-year old Indiana Jones punches out a whole battalion of Russian soldiers, as if he were 30 years younger, survives a nuclear blast in a refrigerator, no less and several others! And he NEVER seems to get injured!

Not to say that Harrison Ford can't pull off these action sequences with aplomb. He is a terrific actor, but c'mon!

And for another, the scenes where Shia LeBeouf's character, "Mutt," makes like Tarzan, as he grabs a few hanging vines and swings through the trees with a tribe of monkeys is downright laughable. The same can be said for the waterfall adventures where, nearly the entire cast plummets off some spectacular drops, not once, but THREE separate times, and comes out completely unscathed. Honestly, this ability to survive so many unfathomable dangers often makes this movie seem more like a cartoon than anything an actual human could endure.

But I digress.

MORE THAN JUST YOUR AVERAGE SUMMMER BLOCKBUSTER
After all, this is a movie, a summer BLOCKBUSTER movie, no less, and it does manage to entertain, if that is all you require from your cinematic experience. But on another level, you may find it to be much more than a mere summer time diversion. Particularly, if you are at all familiar with the crystal skull legend and its alleged connection to extra-terrestrials, ancient cultures, the Mayans, the lost continent of Atlantis, spirituality, healing, Area 51, the Roswell incident and, on and, on and, on.

Suffice to say, these crystal skulls pack quite a wallop!

My suspicions are this new chapter in the Indiana Jones series, has a lot more to offer than your typical summer popcorn fare. It would appear there is a great deal of esoteric information on display if you can read between the lines and locate the clues. There are not hard to find, trust me.

It is just a hunch for now, but it would seem, perhaps, we are on the verge of some major revelations from our government or military that ETs are very much alive and well and amongst us. With recent guests on "Larry King Live" and "Late Night with David Letterman" openly talking about people who have had real alien contact, coupled with real video corroboration, the evidence is beginning to mount.

More than likely, this movie, which will be seen by millions of fans around the world this summer, will only fuel the speculation. And perhaps that was the intent from the outset. But as the saying goes, "something is up!" Clearly!

You can decide for yourself, but nonetheless, I would recommend taking in the new "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" sometime in the near future. It is definitely NOT a great movie, not even near the best of the Indiana Jones series, but it is packed with a lot of very interesting information that is worthy of investigation.

So let the speculation begin.
