Eckhart Tolle – Raising Consciousness to Inspire Human Evolution

Part 1: Introduction

Part 2: Eckhart Tolle Quotes

by Scott Mowry

Eckhart Tolle may be one of the most enlightened beings living on the planet today. The German born author, lecturer and spiritual teacher, has gained a passionate and devoted following with books such as "The Power of Now," "Stillness Speaks" and the wildly popular, "A New Earth," that have had a profound impact upon the consciousness of the entire world.

Eckhart Tolle is passionate in his belief that by raising our consciousness, this process will contribute greatly to the evolution of the human race as a whole. "The ultimate purpose of the world lies not within the world but in the transcendence of the world," he writes in his brilliant book, "The Power of Now."

Thus far, in his mission to awaken human consciousness, he has authored eight books, but it was with his most recent, "A New Earth," that he has found international, wide-spread acclaim as never before.

Thanks to the efforts of her talk show royalness, Oprah Winfrey, who chose to prominently feature "A New Earth" in her highly influential book club, and then to host a series of webinars, Eckhart Tolle's public profile was raised significantly in the year 2008.

The book resonated deeply with readers longing for spiritual enrichment and "A New Earth" quickly became an instant best seller and brought Mr. Tolle unprecedented recognition as a major, modern-day spiritual figure of the world.

Yet, "A New Earth" was, more or less, a re-telling of his earlier book, "The Power of Now," first released in 1997, as some that work's more deeper concepts were made palatable for a larger segment of a mainstream audience. However, both of these books come highly recommended.

Eckhart Tolle's life has been one of series of highs and lows and he steadfastly believes these experiences have given him a great sense of wisdom and a deep understanding of his life's purpose and his spiritual core.

It was in 1977, at the age of twenty-nine, while living in England, he had reached a low-point in his life and even contemplated suicide. Yet, through his darkest days, something within him shifted and he managed to obtain an awakened spiritual recognition, and ultimately. an epic transformation, which set his life into a heightened state of awareness and purpose.

Often, Mr. Tolle cites the act of suffering, as a method to gain greater wisdom. "Is suffering really necessary? Yes and no. If you had not suffered as you have, there would be no depth to you, no humility, no compassion," he has stated.

"To end the misery that has afflicted the human condition for thousands of years, you have to start with yourself and take responsibility for your inner state at any given moment. That means now," he writes in "A New Earth."

Throughout his books, videos and lectures, Eckhart Tolle strives to emphasize the importance of being present in the "now," or living one's life "in the moment." Where the past, as well as, the future, have little importance and rather, what matters most, is to shift your daily focus solely on the present.

"Life is now. There was never a time when your life was not now, nor will there ever be," he writes in "The Power of Now." "Nothing ever happened in the past; it happened in the Now. Nothing will ever happen in the future; it will happen in the Now," he adds.

Eckhart Tolle is a living, shining example of a man that embodies all that there is to becoming, and ultimately, being enlightened. He practices what he preaches and has inspired countless others to seek a path of enlightenment in an ever increasing chaotic world.

"You find God the moment you realize that you don't need to seek God," he has stated on numerous occasions.

Which begs the question, is enlightenment as difficult to achieve as we often believe it to be? Perhaps, Eckhart Tolle has answered that question with an emphatic "NO!"

It would seem that these words from, "The Power of Now," summarize everything Eckhart Tolle stands for: "...all the things that truly matter — beauty, love, creativity, joy, inner peace — arise from beyond the mind."
